The new hand washing station is now complete. We received the funds last August from a lady in Germany. She shared information about her visit to our school with her 4th grade students. They decided they wanted to help, so they did an activity to raise funds. They sent enough to fund a hand washing station that the school had been wanting to build near the bathroom facilities. Previously, children would use water from a plastic jug stored inside the bathroom stall. Now, after visiting the toilet, and before lunch, they can visit the station and do a more thorough job of washing their hands…. with soap that was supplied by Tony and Cheryl Bowers of Missouri.
We worked with the bricklayer and the plumber to modify an existing structure to create a design where the runoff water from the hand washing can be captured in a tank, and then used to water a small vegetable garden. That, too, will be new since we will now have recycled water to help keep it watered!
