‘Olympic’ Stars

The Tanzanian National Olympic Committee held a series of athletic competitions in Karatu last week and two female Tloma 7th graders placed first and second in the Under 18 years, 2.5 km run. This was no small feat considering there were hundreds of competitors coming from as far as 140 km (90 miles) away and from the metropolitan area of Arusha.  Additionally, 10 year-old,  third-grade boy, Amani, beat both of his older sisters, one of which came it at 30th place. We’re not sure what his place was, but it was at the head of the pack and shows he is one to watch!
