Village Women Begin New Soap Business

So many of the Tloma children, about 40 per cent, live in homes led by an unemployed, single mother, often because the father has abandoned the family. A small number of them recently gathered to learn to make liquid cleaning soap and have now begun to sell their product to fellow villagers and businesses in the area.

The timing appears to have been rather fortuitous as the government has encouraged heightened cleanliness to battle the Corona Virus and sales are strong for a new enterprise. Our hope is to expand soap sales to include small, handcrafted guest soaps with scents from native plants for local lodges.
