Sita and John are two delightful students we got to know well during our times at Tloma. During our last visit, John mentioned that one of his goals was to beat Eliharuma as the top student in Class 7. There are four boys who consistently alternate places in the upper five of 89 students. Sita is a top girl student. When she said her goal was to beat the boys, John’s jaw dropped and his eys widened in surprise. And, thus, the challenge began!
Early tests scores have come in, and Sita has pulled ahead of John by 1 point for 4th place, and she lags behind the top student by only 22 points! Way to go, Sita!!
But, being the top student isn’t their biggest challenge. Bob and I have visited their homes and we know that both of these delightful students come from families with little financial ability to pay for them to continue their education. We need to find sponsors before September when their school year ends.
